I am Amanda Timonere — a licensed mental health counselor, National Certified Counselor, EMDR-trained therapist, and Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor licensed in Florida, Connecticut, Idaho, Texas, and South Carolina. Before building Zenful Mamas, I spent years as the Chief Clinical Officer of a multi-state behavioral health organization, designing treatment programs and supervising clinical teams across thousands of cases. I know what good care looks like from the inside out.
But the credential that matters most to the mamas I work with is this one: I am a mother of two boys who did not see it coming. I thought I was prepared. I had the training, the insight, the clinical miles. And motherhood still cracked something open in me that I did not have language for. I found myself repeating things I swore I never would. I felt the distance between who I was and who I was becoming — and I had no real space to process it.
I built Zenful Mamas because that space did not exist the way it needed to. Not clinical enough to be therapy. Not real enough to feel like community. Not honest enough to say the hard things out loud. So I built it. And I built it for every mama who is standing exactly where I was — capable, self-aware, and quietly wondering why nobody warned her about this part.
Matrescence is the psychological, neurological, and identity-level transformation that happens when a woman becomes a mother. It is as significant as adolescence. And almost nobody prepares you for it.
You do not have to be in crisis. You just have to be honest enough to admit this season is more than anyone prepared you for.
You are pregnant and already feel like you don't recognize yourself — and the baby isn't even here yet.
You gave birth and you are still waiting to feel like yourself again.
You love your baby and you miss yourself at the same time — and you feel guilty saying that out loud.
You keep catching yourself repeating things your mother used to say and it unsettles you.
Your nervous system hasn't felt like yours in months and you are exhausted in a way sleep does not fix.
You need a space where you can say the real thing without someone trying to fix you immediately.
Mom rage. Burnout. Numbness. They aren't character flaws. They are signs your nervous system is dysregulated. Here are the five signs to look for and what actually helps from a licensed therapist.
Most parents aren't parenting from their values. They are parenting from their patterns. Here's the four-stage framework I use to help women break the cycle before they pass it down to their children.
Pregnancy is not just a physical experience — it’s a deeply emotional and psychological one. If you’ve found yourself wondering “Why am I emotional during pregnancy?” or feeling old wounds, anxiety, relationship patterns, or childhood pain resurfacing, you are not broken. This blog explores why pregnancy activates unresolved emotions, what it means for your nervous system and mental health, and how healing during pregnancy can help break generational cycles before they are passed down.
Licensed clinical therapy for perinatal anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, birth story processing, and nervous system stabilization — with a therapist who specializes in matrescence. I also offer EMDR and EMDR intensives for deeper trauma and birth-related processing.
